Our Commitment to Sustainability
OUR SUSTAINABILITY GOALS
At True Motion, we are aware of our social, environmental, and economic responsibility – but we also know that we still have more steps to take to reach our goal of becoming CO₂ neutral.
As a modern European company, our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint are ongoing. To this end, all work and production steps are constantly reviewed, and carbon emissions are kept to the possible minimum.
In all areas of the company, we take care to act sustainably and make only conscious decisions – from choosing production materials to packaging and transport to marketing our True Motion running shoes.

Sustainability in Our Packaging
Sustainability has been our priority at True Motion since our formation and plays a significant role in all our corporate decisions.
In the print sector, we work with an ecological online print shop that helps us produce our brochures and catalogs in a climate-neutral way via the climate protection agency natureOffice.
All CO₂e emissions generated during the production of our printed materials are recorded and offset by a recognized climate protection project – such as a natural forest reforestation in Togo, West Africa (CO₂e emissions include all greenhouse gases that pollute the environment when they are released. In the print sector, these are methane and nitrous oxide in addition to carbon dioxide).
Furthermore, we are gradually converting our vehicle fleet to e-mobility. Most of our meetings take place digitally, and whenever possible, our employees travel by train instead of by air.
We are working hard every day to implement further efforts in the area of carbon balance to reduce our carbon footprint even further, from production and transport to the feet of our runners.

MORE SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS
When developing our running shoes, we make sure to use the most sustainable materials possible. We intentionally only produce a limited range of products and base the development of our shoes exclusively on the real needs of runners.
We deliberately refrain from releasing new running shoes every season. Instead, we rely on high-quality materials to ensure a long lifecycle, which is at least two years. When our shoes are introduced in new colors, the previous models also remain available.
We focus on using recycled and recyclable materials in our manufacturing. From selecting fabrics to packaging, the production of our running shoes is as environmentally friendly as possible. We continuously look for new and innovative solutions to make our manufacturing process even more sustainable.
Our running shoes are produced as sustainably as possible. The laces are made from environmentally friendly materials; the tongue and collar linings are made from excess material from other production steps; the production of our toe caps and heel counters is vegan and REACh-(SVCH-) compliant; the outsole is made from sustainable, recyclable Regrind Rubber; and the insole is made from recycled EVA foam.
Our packaging is also sustainable and environmentally friendly. We use only soy-based ink and FSC-certified cardboard for our shoe boxes. We also produce our shoe boxes in different sizes to save material and ensure the most sustainable packaging possible. This also applies to the use of paper within our boxes: we deliberately refrain from using stuffing paper inside our shoes when shipping True Motion running shoes.

Sustainable PRODUCTION STANDARDS
The research and development of our running shoes happens in Germany and are produced in a quality factory in Vietnam.
Occupational health and safety, as well as compliance with social standards, are close to our hearts and important to us. Our factory is audited yearly to check working conditions and compliance with international standards on site – such as the SEDEX standard.
SEDEX is one of the world’s leading ethical trade service providers, committed to improving working conditions in global supply chains. SEDEX members commit to responsible procurement and adherence to ethical and sustainable business practices.
In order to keep transport and delivery distances as short as possible, we use local suppliers whenever possible.
Our long-term goal is to move the production of our running shoes to Europe. During our founding phase, we intensively researched options to have our running shoes manufactured in Germany or at least in Europe. However, the know-how, technological materials, machines, and craftsmanship to produce performance running shoes are still unavailable in Europe.
Nevertheless, we continue to pursue our vision of moving our entire production to Europe, minimizing transport routes, and continuously reducing our carbon footprint.
